Juvenile Myositis (JM), including Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM), Amyopathic Dermatomyositis (AMD) and Juvenile Polymyositis (JPM), is an autoimmune disease affecting approximately 5,000 children in the United States. Weak muscles and skin rash are the primary symptoms of JDM, while muscle weakness without a rash is the primary symptom of JPM. Children afflicted with AMD, on the other hand, experience the skin rash without the weakened muscles. Even within these three designations, JM affects every child differently. Some children experience a mild form of the disease, while others follow a more severe and potentially more debilitating course. Some of the more onerous secondary symptoms are calcinosis, vasculitic ulcers and contractures.

UPDATE! :: Due to the fact that Streex will be moving to California somewhere in the next couple months, the October marathon will most likely be postponed to either later this year or early 2011. We apologize for the delay and when we have things again situated, we'll officially announce the date of our Mega Man Marathon, which should be even more fun and raise even more donations than the past marathons.

What a wonderful experience it was to put on this marathon. During the Castlevania for CureJM Marathon, we played games for 24 hours straight and broadcasted live here in the Marathons Channel. We played Castlevania, Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest, Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse, Super Castlevania 4, Castlevania 64, Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, and Castlevania The Adventure ReBirth. We found troubles when trying to beat Castlevania 3 and Castlevania 64, and ran out of time during Circle of the Moon, but beat all the others. Final score... Ninfest 4, Dracula 3. We ran 2 feeds, one of the game and one of us playing, and had a total of 363 viewers. We had some good conversation going on in the UStream chat which kept us going into the late night/early morning hours. Our goal was to raise $400 for curejm.com to help find a cure for Juvenile Myositis and smashed it by raising $580. In fact, we hit the $400 mark only one hour into the marathon.

If you have a cause you'd like us to raise money for or have an opinion on which set of games we should play next time, please email us at ninfest@me.com. Thank you very much to all of you that watched us and donated and hope you'll all join us again next time! mailto:ninfest@me.com?subject=Marathon%20requestshapeimage_19_link_0
