Arcade Titles We'd Like To See On Wii U

Posted by Streex on August 24, 2014 at 11:45 PM Comments comments ()

Ah the good ol' days. Early consoles didn't give us the opportunity to play 4-player games, but it didn't matter. We went down to the local arcade and found some really good titles that ate our quarters daily. Now that consoles easily support up to 4 or more players, some of these greats have entered our living rooms on other consoles, but not on Wii U. Even 3DS has Space Harrier! I would drop a few bucks in a heartbeat...

Is Retro Game Music Better Than Game Music Of Today?

Posted by Streex on August 10, 2014 at 11:10 PM Comments comments ()

Whenever I find myself humming a tune from a game, it's always from something I played years ago. NES and Super NES game music seems to be permanently stuck in my head, but very rarely can I say the same about anything released in the last 5 years. One thing that easily sticks out is that game music back then looped over and over. Usually a 30 second to 1 minute track would repeat, therefore grinding it into our heads. ...

Posted by Streex on August 4, 2014 at 12:55 AM Comments comments ()

The retro scene is alive and well! Justice Beaver is a brand new Super NES game coming soon that can be played on your Super Nintendo. If you don't have one, you will still be able to download it on the Wii U eShop as an eShop or Virtual Console title. He's cute, he's cuddly, and he's wielding a huge gun. This 16-bit side-scrolling platformer is just about ready to head out the door as soon as they add some music to i...

GameBoy, The Beginning Of Nintendo's Handheld Dominance Remembered

Posted by Streex on July 23, 2014 at 5:40 PM Comments comments ()

It seems like it was just yesterday when my mom brought home a GameBoy each for my brother and I. After piddling away with Tiger Electronic games, to finally play a handheld game where objects actually moved across the screen, I was mindblown. Little did I know that this would be the beginning of dedicated handheld dominance. From the Game Gear to the PSVita, no handheld has been able to beat Nintendo.

Now That GBA Has Arrived, Nintendo 64 on Wii U VC Soon to Follow?

Posted by Streex on June 18, 2014 at 5:50 PM Comments comments ()

If it were up to me, I'd keep all portable games on portable virtual consoles, and home console games on home console virtual consoles. Nintendo doesn't seem to care about my opinion and has gone forth to bring GameBoy Advance titles to Wii U Virtual Console. I can't argue with the decision, because more options is always better. On the Wii U VC page that mentioned GBA games would arrive on Wii U, Nint...

Video :: Man Up and Quit Complaining About VC Prices!

Posted by Streex on June 4, 2014 at 12:40 AM Comments comments ()

This guy puts things in perspective, enough so to shut up anyone that is still complaining about the cost of Virtual Console games. I know we want all the games we can get our hands on for as little cash as possible, but the thing is, if there is no cost at all, we'll be playing Flappy Bird clones for free for years to come. In the video below, I enjoyed the fact that he did the homework to prove how much we are savin...

Review :: Yoshi's Story

Posted by Streex on March 5, 2014 at 4:35 AM Comments comments ()

Am I the only person who actually likes this game? -Review by Streex

For one, I don't get the hate this game gets. No, it's not Yoshi's Island. It wasn't meant to be. But once you learn to accept it for what it is, it's a fantastic platformer and one of the best on the Nintendo 64. Awkward level structure and overwhelm...

The voting is now wrapped up, and you guys picked your favorite games of 2013. We've had some crazy games win Game of the Year in the past, such as Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars and Kirby's Epic Yarn, but I think you guys were on the same page this year. All of the winners in each category seem to be pretty close to popular opinion, and the Game of the Year for 2013 is a safe pick that truly deserv...

Review :: Dr. Mario

Posted by Streex on January 29, 2014 at 4:45 AM Comments comments ()

This is a really fun game. -Review by Streex

In between all of his plumbing and saving princesses and such, Mario seems to have found time to get his degree in medicine. He is quite the talented guy. He needs your help as his assistant though, in what may be his most serious task yet. Getting rid of h...
