It's upgrade time again! Next year Nintendo plans to release a new 3DS model, in fact, that is what it's called. New 3DS and New 3DS XL. This will be the fourth version of the handheld to join the 3DS family, and there are some good reasons to upgrade. First off there is a new control nub above the face buttons on the right side that will allow for better and more control, like changing the camera angle. The top screen has been greatly improved to give you a wider 3D viewing angle. No more paltry one inch range. The CPU has been enhanced, so you will enjoy faster loading times and quicker digital downloads. The enhanced CPU will also allow the upcoming Xenoblade Chronicles and future Wii sized games playable on the go.
NFC is new to the 3DS, built under the bottom screen, that will allow you to use Amiibo characters without an additional device. More shoulder buttons, ZL and ZR, have also been added, and the game slot, stylus, and power button have been moved to the bottom of the unit with the headphone jack. If you choose the New 3DS over the New 3DS XL you will have extra customization features. Nintendo will be releasing several faceplates that you can slap on both sides of the system so you can show off your own unique style without buying an entirely new handheld.
Japan will get first crack at it this year, while North America and Europe will have to wait until 2015. Who's in?
